Upwork is one of many freelance platforms to help those freelancing get projects online. It is what helped me grow my company from the ground up and build my online portfolio.
My name is Brooke Seidel and I am freelance digital marketer helping other online business owners gain a presence online. Some of my previous clients have included Vionic Shoes, Bacon’s Heir, and other companies online. I’ve even been able to help write blog articles for businesses like His and Hers on different topics such as about romance, couples, and personal wellness.
In this blog post, I am sharing 5 Truths About Upwork for Freelancers. If you’re interested in receiving more tips about digital marketing and freelancing, please join my email list to receive future notifications at the end of this blog.
The first truth is that Upwork is a great start for beginners. This is how I landed my first client of writing a blog article. It was for really cheap, but I was able to add it to my portfolio.
The second truth is that Upwork can be extremely competitive. When I started using it in 2018, I did not find it as competitive as it is now. It’s good to stay on top of your platform and don’t let it go, as everything is extremely fast-paced and jobs are always appearing and people are always getting hired.
The third truth is that Upwork can help you gain great testimonials. I’ve gained a lot of good, positive client testimonials on Upwork. Every time you have a project, you can always invite your clients to write a testimonial on your profile. This can help you build your reputation and it will help you attract new work.
The fourth truth is that you can gain top rated status based on how well your projects perform and based off feedback from your clients. When you have 90% or better, you gain top-rated status and this will help you with acquiring more job offers.
The fifth truth is that the algorithm is something that can help you with attracting new work based off how active you are and a variety of factors such as how many jobs you are applying to, your message response rate, your project performance, and more.
